Have A Picnic In Central Park

I am sure we have all heard of the famous Central Park and all the splendors that it comes with, from the carousel, to the zoo, their famous ice rink, and picnics. Picnics? Yes you heard me picnics. To experience a well planned picnic in Central Park will make you feel like a true New Yorker. If you are not from New York please make sure you get a map, since Central park is quite sizeable, 250 acres to be exact.

First off we are not talking a picnic for a hundred people, but a spot to have some either homemade or store-bought delicious food. The best places to take in the sun, people watch and picnicking are the grounds located at Sheep Meadows, Strawberry Fields, Bow Bridge or along the Conservatory Garden. The latter one being benches but still a nice place to have your lunch nevertheless. Sorry no lawns hear.

Picnics at the park can be beautiful, it just takes a little bit of planning. Hoping for descent weather is first on the list, once this is covered the rest comes easy.

If you are planning to pack something for the picnic in the way of food, New York is the city to be from local delis and farmers’ markets to more upscale ethnic take out, you will be in purveyor’s heaven when choosing. If you are planning on picnicking during the summer, make sure you attend any of the free concerts. If bringing home-made is right for you, remember that you will be enjoying a great meal at a fraction of the cost of take out with a spectacular view.

Once you have decided on the ideal spot that works for you and you have your packed lunch or dinner go ahead and lay down your blanket.
